Best Mom Ever aka I'm a Sucker

Today is Libby's 10th Birthday.

But before I tell this story, I need to back up a few days and give you some background information. On Monday morning, Libby had a friend over at the house. I have told the kids over and over again that they are NOT to get Madi's hamsters out. The things are too darn little and fast and if you accidently let one go, they are almost impossible to catch. So Libby calls me at work on Monday and asks if she and her friend can get the hamsters out. I told her No.

When I got home from work that night, Madi was crying because she could only find one of her three hamsters in the cage. We looked through the bedding and we found one squished and very dead at the bottom of the cage, one was alive and one was missing. She cried and cried. No one knew anything about what happened to the hamsters. I sat on it a few days to think it over.

Well yesterday I was planning to take Libby to get a guinea pig for her birthday. Before we left, I sat her down and told her that I wasn't going to let another animal into our house until I knew what had happened to the hamsters. After about 30 minutes I finally got out of her that they "probably" accidentally let one of the hamsters go, and "might have" accidentally smashed one trying to get it out of the cage. So we decided that she had to make this up to Madi by buying her two more hamsters out of her own money.

So off we go to get a guinea pig. We get to the store, and the guy working there won't sell us two more hamsters because he says they'll fight with the one we already have. So Madi decides to get a guinea pig instead and keep it in Libby's cage. Then Carlie starts in that its not fair that Libby and Frank and Madi all have a guinea pig and Madi has a hamster and she has NOTHING. So I talk to Madi and we decide that the remaining hamster will be Carlie's. She decides to rename him from "Brownie" to "Prince Timmy". And I let her buy a set of living room furniture for his cage.

So we come home and they are all so happy and excited. As we get out of the car, Libby goes "Mom...you are the best Mom EVER" (Note that I am usually the MEANEST Mom ever.) And I reply "Thank you Libby. But I bet there are a few Moms out there who are better than I am." She thinks about it a second and says "Well, your the best Mom that I'VE ever had!" Libby has a way of telling it like it is "Grin".

So now, if you are keeping count....we have

Five Kids
Four Rodents
Two cats
One Dog

And a FULL house.

I will NEVER pee again!!!

Madi woke up Thursday saying that her privates were hurting. I didn't think much about it and sent her on to school. They called later that morning saying she'd had an accident at school and the school nurse thought she had a bladder infection.

I was able to get an appointment for her at 3:30pm that afternoon, and Bob picked her up and school and ran her over to my office and then went back to his basketball practice.

Madi and I went over to the doctor's office together. We didn't have any trouble until the doctor informed her that she'd have to pee into a cup. The doctor refused to perscribe her any antibiotics until she peed in the cup.

Madi went absolutely BIZERK. She said it hurt when she went to pee, and she didn't need to pee anyway, so she WASN'T peeing in that cup. I took her to the bathroom and wrestled her skirt and underwear off of her. And then the fit REALLY began. I can't remember Madi ever acting like that. She screamed....she shrieked....she wailed....she tried to force me to give her clothes back to her. I wasn't going to bend.

She threatened to leave the bathroom and walk back to our exam room, wrap her coat around herself and go home by herself. She said I was the Meanest Mom in the Whole Wide World, and that she was NEVER GOING TO PEE AGAIN!!!!!. She said she was going to yell out the door to the doctor, and the doctor would come and make me give her clothes back to her. She was going to tell Bob what I'd done to her.

I'm sure the ENTIRE office heard everything because all of this was said at the top of her lungs.

Finally I turned the water on at the tap. That REALLY made her need to go pee. She started dancing and screaming and trying to get around me to turn the water off.

We did this for an HOUR. Finally she couldn't hold it any more and ran for the toilet and I managed to get TWO DROPS of pee into the cup. Luckily it was enough for the to test.

As soon as she peed in the cup she was back to her normal happy self. I on the other hand was EXHAUSTED!!!

Is it a Full Moon tonight?

He didn't want me to take his picture being ugly, so he put the pan over his face.

For some reason having Frank and Libby together just equals trouble. Frank has been away all week visiting with Memaw and Pepaw in Oklahoma. I had very little problems with the girls while he was gone, and he got into very little trouble while he was away.

He got home late yesterday. The two of them started in on each other first thing this morning. Bobby said he sent Libby to her room early in the day, and she ended up spending a chunk of it there.

Then I came home from work and started dinner. Bobby had to leave for to run the Weight Room as soon as I got home. After we finished dinner, I asked Frank to empty the dishwasher and re-load it. I came back a few minutes later and he is gone, and the dishes are still piled high in the sink. When I called him upstairs he INSISTED that he'd emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it.

Well what he'd done was taken a couple of dishes out, stuck one dirty one back in there and said he was done. Now I was born in the day time, but I wasn't born yesterday.

So I make him empty the dishwasher and reload it while I stand over him. He gets a total attitude. He finally tries to run from me, but I anticipated what he was going to do. I got him by the neck and took him down to the floor before he could get more than a step. We stayed on the floor for close to an hour during which time he told me repeatedly that I was the meanest mom ever. When he was finally back in control of himself and ready to apologize, I let him up so that he could complete the chore of emptying and reloading the dishwasher. THEN he had to do additional chores for me since I'd had to spend so much time making him do the first one the right way. So now I have a really clean house!!!

While I was outside having Frank pull all of the weeds out of the patio, I hear screaming from the house. Madi comes outside dripping wet with a towel half-wrapped around her naked person. She tells me that while in the tub Carlie has thrown a Barbie at her head and caused a big knot. I herd her inside. I find Carlie in the bathtub, naked, looking very guilty. She explains to me that Madi MADE her hit her in the head because Madi was being a TOTAL jerk.

So I tell them they are both going to bed IMMEDIATELY. And not only that, I was going to make Madi sleep in the room they share, and Carlie was going to sleep in MY bed. That was the worst possible thing I could do to them. They begged and pleaded to be allowed to sleep in the same room. I calmly explained that they couldn't stand each other (or at least I thought so from the way they were treating each other) so I didn't want them to have to sleep together.

While they were finishing cleaning up the bathroom, they came up with a plan. They found me in the livingroom and informed me that they had kissed and hugged, so could they please sleep in their room together. So they are in bed right now chattering away to each other like the bestest of friends!!!

Awwwww...the joys of parenting.

My Two Boys are Feeling Sorry For Themselves

It's hard to watch....but they are the only ones who can fix the situations.

JB still has no money....no job and no prospects. This weekend JB had explained to me that I was not his “REAL” family and hence would never come “FIRST” to him when I had asked him to attend some family events this weekend which he blew off.

I paid JB $10 for an hour’s worth of work on laying our brick patio two nights ago…mostly because I wanted to talk to him about a few things. I mentioned while we were going to get the sand and supplies that I hadn’t seen him chewing in a while. And in a pitiful voice he said he wasn’t chewing because he had no money to buy chew. So at 9 o’clock he came up stairs and asked me to go and take the money I’d just given him and buy him some chew. I told him that I was tired and it was 9 o’clock and I wasn’t going. He asked me again and said please, but I told him I wasn’t going. I asked him why he didn’t go…and he said he didn’t have enough gasoline to go to the store.

So he was pouting when I went to tell him good night that night. Poor baby. No one loves him, I guess.

And he’s been hateful with us and with the Nanny over getting him up in the mornings. Well no one woke him up this morning, and he didn’t set his alarm. So he was late to school yesterday. So that’s an unexcused absence. Since we aren’t his “REAL” family….no one saw the need to get him up this morning. Hmmmmmm. He was sent to ISS the rest of this week for skipping classes.

He asked me again to go get chew for him last night...I was going to the store anyway, and told him to give me his money and I'd pick it up for him. He'd already put the $10 in his gas tank, so still no chew for JB.

He's moping around. According to him his life sucks.

We are still at war with Frank over the homework. He refused to do his math in school....so therefore had alot of it to bring home. Refused to do it for the Nanny before I got home. So he sat at the table from 5:30 - 10:30pm last night NOT doing his homework. And he's feeling sorry for himself too. No one loves him either....because if we did we'd not make him do all this work.

Guess I am a mean Mom.
